LADY GAGA COSPLAY
LED Mask and Costume Replica
I recreated Lady Gaga's costume from the 2020 VMAs because the design spoke to me - it's the perfect balance of techie, organic, futuristic and feminine. Plus, I wanted to learn more about programming LED matrix displays and sewing spandex.

AVENUE Q STYLE PORTRAIT PUPPETS
Expanding
Avenue Q to JC.
Meet "Natasha Monster" and "Josh Puppet"!
When my Jersey City choir chose to do a song from Avenue Q, my desire to make a puppet had finally found its purpose! Instead of playing the original Avenue Q characters, I imagined that we were a part of the Avenue Q universe instead, making self-portrait puppets in the Avenue Q style.
Based on these original Broadway Avenue Q puppets:

CARDBOARD ROBOT COSTUME - SALLY SERVO
Boxes can have curves too.
Meet Sally Servo!
She's a robot costume that's really robotic. Her pupils move on servo motors, her mouth illuminates when the wearer speaks, and motors and lights animate her breastplate and belt.
Most cardboard robots are boxy and masculine, so I added a girl to the mix.

ZOMBIE MADONNA COSTUME
Desperately Seeking Brains
The 2023 Zombie Opera theme was "80's", so I recreated Madonna's Look from Desperately Seeking Susan - but Zombified. 🧟♀️

ILLUMINATE WALL
My circuitry is showing.
The "illuminate Wall" is an interactive artwork inspired by "Living Walls" but made from paper, cardboard, paint, and Chibitronics LEDs (who were the collaborators on this piece). The simple materials and visible circuitry show that tinkering with electronics can be accessible, creative, and fun.
To illuminate the wall, viewers shine a light (either from their phone or from the provided flashlight) into each flower to set off a new light animation.

GENE BELCHER'S KEYBOARD / KEYTAR
It really farts.
In Bob's Burgers, Gene and his toy keyboard are practically inseparable. So for Comic Con, I made a working keyboard cosplay prop by reskinning a flexible toy piano.
I rearranged the electronics to fit in a foam board case and soldered new buttons to keep the keyboard fully functional - including adding Gene's favorite "Fart" Sound effect button.
Gene also plays a keytar in his fantasies so I added an optional strap and magnetically attached a removable keytar handle.

LED BIKE
Animation On Wheels
I added LEDs to the silhouette of my bike for the BikeJC light up rides.
The build features custom animations that are synced over radio between the bike frame, wheels, and helmet.
I created a video tutorial series based on this project to share how to build portable, custom LED projects for bikes and beyond.

LOKI FOR "PAW-SIDENT" DOG COSTUME
Burdened with glorious cuteness.
In the Loki TV series, a variant of Loki is an alligator - so I thought my dog could be a Loki too for Halloween!
By creating fake arms on the front, it looks like he is standing straight up, ready to accept his presidential nomination.
I also created some campaign swag for his human canvassers.

MATILDA COLLAPSIBLE CAKE PROP
He ate the cake.
In Matilda, the character Bruce is served an extra large chocolate cake and has to finish the whole thing as punishment.
I created a collapsible cake to create the illusion that the entire cake was being devoured on stage.
After the show, I heard a kid ask the young actor if he REALLY ate the whole thing - mission accomplished.
